The follow-up psychiatrist-narcologist consultation is a control visit aimed at monitoring the patient’s progress after the initial assessment and/or initiation of treatment. During the consultation, the specialist evaluates changes in mental health status, symptom progression, response to therapy, and the effectiveness of previously given recommendations. The goal is to adjust the treatment plan, prevent relapses, and optimize recovery in cases of psychiatric disorders and addictions.
Indications
- Monitoring the course of psychiatric disorders
- Follow-up of patients with problematic alcohol or psychoactive substance use
- Assessment of treatment effectiveness
- Need for adjustment of therapy or treatment regimen
- Prevention of relapse and monitoring of remission status
Procedure
The consultation is conducted as a confidential dialogue with the psychiatrist-narcologist. Changes since the previous visit, adherence to treatment, possible side effects, and behavior related to substance use are assessed. If necessary, the physician may adjust treatment, recommend additional investigations, or continue the current therapeutic plan.
Preparation:
The patient is asked to bring recommendations from the previous consultation, ongoing treatment details, and an updated list of current medications. It is important to honestly report any changes in condition: symptom progression, possible relapses, response to treatment, side effects, and questions for the specialist.
